Fair Virtue (also known as Honor Thy Mother) is a charming sampler
with a lovely palette of soft colors. Charts are included for both
verses, with the stitcher having the option of using either chart.

Students will learn twelve stitches: Diagonal Cross Stitch, Cross with a
Bar, Satin, Triple Rice, Rapid, Rice over 2 threads, Smyrna over 2
threads, Double Cross, Blackwork, Queen Stitch over 4 and over 6
threads, French Stitch, and Canvas Lace. In addition, students will also
learn some of the history of the stitches and the symbolism behind the
selection of bands used.

The Fair Virtue sampler pictured on the left was stitched on 28 count
Cherub Pink linen using a selection of over-dyed threads from Olde
Willow Stitchery. Students will be offered the choice of 28 count
Cherub Pink linen or 32 count Antique Pink linen. The size of the
finished piece is approximately 4.9” wide by 14.9” long on 28 count and
4.25” wide by 13” long on 32 count. The Olde Willow Stitchery over-
dyed threads used are Meadow Green, Black Cherry, Fireworks,
Raspberry Ripple, Bayberry Township Green, Allentown Brown, Society
of Friends Gold, Providence Brown, Solitude Green, and Mulberry.

Fair Virtue will be taught as a 2-day class with approximately 6 hours
of instruction per day.
